As a woman, I can freely and shamelessly acknowledge—well, perhaps a bit shamefully, haha—that I have done some quite odd things in the sake of beauty. Although I adore lash extensions, it seems a bit extravagant to pay someone to adhere small hairs to each individual lash. I also like a decent spray tan, although it seems odd to pay someone to spray your skin to make it look darker when you think about it. In addition to the disagreeable odor of a spray tan.
Boomers may find it simple to attribute these odd beauty practices on social media, celebrity pressure, or millennials’ typical “difficult” personalities, but the reality is that women have been engaging in bizarre behavior for ages in the pursuit of beauty!
